For Armin Laschet, 2021 was a catastrophe year.
But his son, fashion influencer Joe Laschet, is relieved that his father lost the election to Olaf Scholz.
Berlin – Armin Laschet* lost a lot in the past year: As the CDU top candidate, he lost in the federal election to SPD competition Olaf Scholz*. His position as prime minister in North Rhine-Westphalia was gone. And no one wanted him as CDU chairman anymore, instead Friedrich Merz got the post at the third attempt. There were also a few scandals: Laschet's laughter in the midst of the damage caused by the terrible flood disaster, the wrong way to throw in his ballot* and the grueling power struggle* with Bavaria's Prime Minister Markus Söder.
Armin Laschet's son Johannes experienced all this up close and now spoke to the

about this time.
The 32-year-old fashion influencer admits it was a relief that his father didn't become chancellor.
"The result was also a bit of relief because my life is freer now," says Johannes Laschet, who has almost 100,000 followers on Instagram and mainly publishes photos of himself in smart suits there.
Johannes Laschet, nicknamed Joe, was also personally exposed to hostilities: he was under fire for a questionable mask deal.
"It was brutal to be at the mercy of this shitstorm.
I filed two complaints for libel.
I was threatened with violence – that went too far,” said Laschet junior to the

Armin Laschet: White sneakers for Christmas
He stood by his father during the hot phase of the election campaign and afterwards with "encouraging text messages".
He gave him white sneakers for Christmas because Armin Laschet can now dress more casually again.
The family now wants to forget the tough last year, he says: "The campaign year is over.
We don't talk about it much anymore."
The fact that Armin Laschet recently got a new job could help to deal with the many defeats.
Ex-Chancellor Angela Merkel has also received several job offers in the past, but so far she has blocked everything - and overall she doesn't seem to want to have much to do with the CDU*.
