In the video: Rabbi Shai grinds on the connection between Michael's mother and this week's Torah portion (PR)
During the month of December in 2000, a Florida resident named Jerry Michael Williams left his home and traveled to the lake near his home to hunt ducks.
He did not return from there.
Even after extensive searches - no thread has been found that will tell the story of his disappearance.
Officially, authorities claimed he was preyed upon by crocodiles and as a result there is no trace of his body.
But there was one woman who did not give up, Michael's mother.
For 18 years she turned every stone and did everything to find her son.
She sent letters daily to local politicians and hung ads on every street corner.
Finally, her search revealed that her son's wife had murdered him, and his body was found.
Rabbi Shai Tahan, head of the Shaare Ezra Kollel and head of the Arazi Lebanon Teaching House, explains in his weekly corner the connection between Michael's mother and this week's Torah portion - Parshas Mishpatim, and the infinite power that exists between parents and their children.
He likens this to the connection between the Holy One and the people of Israel, an absolute connection that is expressed in both our pain and joy.
