The Russian Permanent Representative to the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe, Alexander Lukashevich, revealed that the Ukrainian authorities continue to strengthen their military build-up along the line of contact in Donbass, southeast of Ukraine.
“Considering an imaginary threat of invasion from abroad, the military-political leadership of Ukraine continues to build up its forces along the line of contact in the Donbass, they have so far mobilized about 150 thousand soldiers there,” Lukashevich was quoted by RIA Novosti news agency as saying during a meeting of the OSCE Permanent Council. .
Lukashevich added that "the Minister of Defense of Ukraine recently announced an increase in the number of the Ukrainian armed forces by 11,000 personnel, and representatives of the national paramilitary formations arrived in Donbass, including the right sector, which has not been disarmed in accordance with Article 10 of the Minsk Agreement," noting that "all this testifies to for the active study in Kiev of plans to prepare for armed provocations in the Donbass.”
The Russian Foreign Ministry confirmed earlier that Kiev "sent half of its army to Donbass," expressing concern about the transfer of military equipment from NATO countries to the Russian borders and the increase in the number of Western military advisors in Donbas.
