The Russian Yantar plant has announced the start of a new phase of testing on a marine research vessel developed by the plant.
“Recently, the new marine research vessel Yevgeny Griglidgan has moved from one of our factory’s shipyards towards the Baltic Sea to undergo another stage of sea trials,” RIA Novosti news agency quoted the factory’s press service as saying in a statement.
The statement added that during the tests, the crew and experts of the factory will verify the ship's ability to move and maneuver, and all systems and mechanisms of the ship, including guidance and communication equipment, sonar systems, positioning and scientific research equipment, will be examined.
Russia began developing the aforementioned ship in 2016 and equipped it with advanced equipment to carry out geological surveys and mapping the ocean and seabeds, as well as equipment for scientific research and monitoring of marine environments.
