Tesla has brought in the next record result.

However, the electric car manufacturer also warns of problems that can burden production.

San Francisco - Tesla* has defied the chip crisis and greatly increased its earning power.

The operating profit amounted to 4.09 billion dollars in the fourth quarter, the electric car maker announced on Wednesday after the market closed.

Tesla with a full increase in sales

This is an increase of 121 percent compared to the previous year.

Analysts had only expected $3.89 billion.

Sales climbed 65 percent to a record $17.72 billion.

The company beat analysts' expectations of $16.57 billion.

However, Tesla warned in its report* that global supply chain problems are likely to persist throughout the year and weigh on electric vehicle production.

Tesla shares are up 1 percent in after-hours trading after initially falling.

Tesla: sales above expectations

At the beginning of January, the US group announced the delivery of 308,600 electric cars to customers for the fourth quarter.

The sixth most valuable company in the world thus surpassed the experts' forecasts, which, according to Refinitiv data, had expected 263,026 vehicles.

Over the year as a whole, deliveries increased by 87 percent to 936,172 vehicles.

Company boss Elon Musk* regularly drives his employees to top performance at the end of the quarter in order to increase deliveries.

The world's largest electric car manufacturer shone last year with a series of quarterly records that also delighted investors.
