Who would have thought that this contagious variant discovered in South Africa could finally give us hope to get out of the pandemic?
We know very well that the Covid has already offered us too many disappointments since its irruption in our lives, from wave to wave and from variation to variation.
But this time, it may be the right one.
We therefore warmly thank Omicron for infecting 15 million people in just one month and – less dangerous than its cousins – for changing the face of the pandemic.
While far fewer people are being sent to hospital and nearly 60% of Europeans are expected to be infected by March, there is once again hope that collective immunity will strengthen (helped by vaccination) for us finally get out of the pandemic.
Other good news of the day: unemployment is falling in a historic way in France.
