The Kochler municipal council has now given the go-ahead for the construction of 91 mobile home parking spaces on Trimini-Strasse.

The thermal bath operator wants to invest 1.5 million euros for the construction.

There will also be public toilet facilities.

Kochel am See – The construction of parking spaces for mobile homes at the Trimini has long been a wish of the Kochel municipality and has caused discussions among the citizens in recent years, mainly because of the size.

With three dissenting votes, the municipal council approved the construction of 91 parking spaces on Tuesday evening.

The client is “BTC Bäder- und ThermenConsult GmbH” (formerly “Kristall Wellness Verwaltungsgesellschaft”).

Mayor Thomas Holz (CSU) said that she now submitted a new application to the community, which, however, did not differ significantly from the basics of the old plan.

Quite the opposite: the company is even accommodating with the community, namely with regard to the biotope and the forthcoming rehabilitation of the old household waste dump.

The driveway should only be asphalted once the pipeline has been repaired.

Public toilet facility planned

In addition to the 91 parking spaces, the construction of a sanitary building is planned, which will also contain a public toilet facility - with a toilet suitable for the disabled, as Holz explained when asked by Frank Sommerschuh (Freie Wahler).

There is also a water connection for camper van guests and they can dispose of their on-board toilets properly.

For Holz, this is one of the central points: “Something like this is not possible in the wider area.” The construction of the square should also serve to prevent vehicles from being parked wildly or the on-board toilets from being disposed of in nature.

The parking space will not have any disadvantages for the clubs that have their sports facilities there, said Holz.

The area will be designed in such a way that the area can also be used by the community for festivals, for example for a tent operation.

Criticisms from councillors

Some local councilors were at odds with the plans.

Rosemarie Marksteiner (centre) finds the space "still too big".

She called for questions about the biotope to be clarified in advance and asked about the planned bus turning point.

This is not part of the building application, said Holz.

The turning area should be created in front of the barrier.

The barrier was also a thorn in Klaus Barthel's (SPD) side.

He called for the biotope to be removed and criticized the height of the sanitary building (6.44 meters).

Holz contradicted Barthel's fears that living space would be created in the building under the roof ("There's nothing in it, and if so, then it has to be approved").

The biotope is now larger than mapped, and the builder wants to seek talks with the lower nature conservation authority in order to "adjust any adjoining areas in terms of the building application".

In addition, Holz continues, it will not happen that the fire brigade is standing in front of a closed barrier in the event of a fire in the Trimini.

Ultimately, the majority of the Kochler councilors voted in favor of the application.

Only Marksteiner, Sommerschuh and Barthel were against it.

Kristallbades-AG wants to “design high-quality” space

The plans will now go to the District Attorney's Office.

As soon as the approval is available, they want to start and "get the appointment chain going," said Gerd Bittermann, CEO of Kristall-Bäder AG, when asked by our newspaper.

He hopes that despite the pandemic and delivery difficulties in some areas, the "mobile home port" can be realized this year.

Such "havens", as Bittermann calls the areas, are operated at almost all thermal baths in the crystal baths group.

Demand is high, and the region also benefits from the places.

"For Kochel, I see the great advantage that uncontrolled motorhome parking can now stop." The aim is to upgrade the area with plants and give it a high-quality design, for example with e-charging stations and digitization.

"We owe that to the area," said Bittermann.
