Lenggries – The recent onset of winter has lured many people back into the mountains.

However, fresh snow and poor visibility on the piste led to a high number of operations for the mountain rescuers.

A total of 21 skiers were injured last weekend.

According to head of operations Christoph Brenninger, most ski accidents occur on the Brauneck, especially from midday on hilly slopes.

A somewhat more complex operation happened last Sunday (January 23) around 11 a.m., about which the Lenggrieser Bergwacht reports.

The 42-year-old skier affected was between the Ahorn chairlift exit and the mountain station when she dialed the emergency call.

The volunteer rescuers from the mountain rescue service were stationed just below the scene at the time.

Two rescuers from the Lenggries mountain rescue service and a rescuer from the Bad Tölz mountain rescue service stationed in the immediate vicinity were then deployed.

No helicopter flights at Brauneck possible due to poor visibility

When the alpine rescuers arrived, the 42-year-old, who was difficult to talk to, complained of severe pain in her shoulder. Brenninger then immediately called for an ambulance, as there was no flight weather due to the poor visibility. "Under better circumstances, some of the patients would have been transported by air at the weekend," emphasized the head of operations.

The requested Tölz mountain rescue doctor immediately made his way to Lenggries to climb into a gondola from there.

In the meantime, the rescuers transported the injured patient with the Skidoo to the gondola exit.

The emergency doctor was able to determine an upper arm fracture and a possible shoulder dislocation.

Since the patient repeatedly lost consciousness and her pain did not subside, "she was not able to get into one of the gondolas to be transported down to the valley with the medical staff," reported Brenninger.

The 42-year-old is taken to the Tölz hospital with a shoulder injury

Therefore, another way had to be found: The emergency services brought an Akja from their garage to drive the 42-year-old down into the valley. The three rescuers set off with the mountain rescue doctor and the patient. Already requested, an ambulance and another emergency doctor were waiting downstairs for the patient to be handed over. The land rescue team then took the injured skier to the hospital in Bad Tölz.

A total of 14 similar falls occurred this Sunday.

Between 10.15 a.m. and 2.15 p.m. the rescuers were on duty without interruption.

"The unusually high number of almost identical shoulder injuries was unusual - five in total," reported Brenninger.

On Saturday, during peak hours, between 11 a.m. and 2 p.m., there were six calls.

The main reason for this was "the postponed bumps caused by all the fresh snow".

57-Lenggrieserin is run over by strangers at Brauneck

On Monday, the Tölz police reported another skiing accident: A 57-year-old woman from Lenggries was hit from behind by an unknown male skier around 10 a.m. on slope 22 below the Tölzer Hütte, towards Quenger-Alm.

"But he drove on without taking care of the injured person," stressed Police Chief Inspector Alois Grünwald.

The Lenggrieserin's knee injury was treated by the ski rescue service and she was then taken to the Tölz hospital.
