Another accidental shooting incident in the IDF:
During the thwarting of smuggling by an IDF force and a school on the Egyptian border, two border fighters were lightly wounded last night (Wednesday to Thursday).
During the night, about nine drug smugglings took place that included massive firing of smuggling squads towards Israeli territory in the Paran Territorial Brigade area.
IDF fighters identified the firing points and opened fire back at the sources of the shooting in order to thwart the smuggling.
The forces managed to thwart the smuggling and seized about 400 kg of drugs with an estimated value of about NIS 8 million at the same time, and as a result of a misidentification, two border fighters were lightly wounded by our forces.
The incident is being investigated.
Just two weeks ago, Major Ofek Aharon and Major Itamar Elharar were killed by our forces near the IDF base in the Jordan Valley.
