(CNN Spanish) --
Vehicles of the United Nations Verification Mission in Colombia were attacked this Thursday in the department of Guaviare.
The occupants escaped unharmed, reported Emilio José Archila, presidential adviser for Stabilization and Consolidation.
In a video published on social networks, the official condemned the attack and reported that the convoy was leaving the old territorial space of Colinas heading for San José del Guaviare.
The Police and the Army are on their way to the scene, Archila added.
In a statement, the Mission "firmly" rejected the fact.
They detailed that the convoy of three vehicles was heading to the rural area of Guayabero to meet with the communities in the area, when they were approached by unknown armed men who made them get off.
Two of the three vehicles in the entourage were burned a few minutes later at the scene, they added.
“The UN Verification Mission reiterates its concern about the persistence of acts of violence in priority areas for the implementation of the Peace Agreement and condemns any attempt to intimidate illegal armed groups against the work of the UN and humanitarian organizations. .
The United Nations System in Colombia will continue to accompany the efforts of Colombians to consolidate peace in the country”, they pointed out.
