District – This weekend and the coming weekend, Deutsche Bahn is renewing a total of nine kilometers of rails – and to do this it has to close the main route between Ostbahnhof and Hackerbrücke from January 28th to 31st and the first weekend of February 4th to 7th.

The DB has announced an extensive rail replacement service.

The S-Bahn trunk line in Munich is one of the busiest railway lines in Europe.

At peak times, there is an S-Bahn in each direction every 90 seconds.

For the tracks, this means a high level of stress.

For this reason, the rails in the tunnel will be changed this year.

In total, DB will be renewing nine kilometers of track over the next two weekends.

The trunk route tunnel has to be closed for the work on the last weekend in January and on the first weekend in February.

Rail replacement service and reinforced tram 19

On the two weekends, no S-Bahn trains run between Ostbahnhof and Hackerbrücke from Friday (10:30 p.m.) to Monday (4:40 a.m.).

Alternatively, buses run between Ostbahnhof and Donnersbergerbrücke.

On Saturdays they run every 7 minutes until around 9:30 p.m., otherwise every 10 to 15 minutes.

At night from around midnight, the SEV is extended from/to Pasing.

The underground line U5 can also be used between the main station and Ostbahnhof.

In addition, tram 19, which runs parallel to the main route, is on the road with additional trips between Pasing and Ostbahnhof on order of the S-Bahn.

Changed routing for the S-Bahn

The S-Bahn lines will run differently than usual on the two weekends: the S8 will be diverted in both directions via the Südring and will not stop between Ostbahnhof and Pasing or on the Leuchtenbergring.

All other lines start/end early.

From/to the west: S1 runs regularly between Freising/airport and Moosach.

It runs between Moosach and Hbf without stopping and only every half hour.

The S2 and S4 begin/end at Hackerbrücke;

S3 begins/ends in Pasing;

the S6 starts/ends at the main station and does not stop between Pasing and the main station.

And the S7 starts/ends at the main station and does not stop at the Hackerbrücke.

From/To the East:

S2, S3, S4, S6, S7 start/end at Ostbahnhof.

The timetables are also included in the timetable information.

The S-Bahn customer dialogue is available daily from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. on telephone 089/55 89 26 65.
