Syria, Lebanon and Jordan signed this week in the Lebanese capital Beirut a contract to supply Lebanon with Jordanian electricity

Syria, Lebanon and Jordan signed this week in the Lebanese capital, Beirut, a contract to supply Lebanon with Jordanian electricity through the Syrian network, as a continuation of the intensive meetings held in the Jordanian capital, Amman, late last year in this regard.

Since the start of those meetings, the Syrian government has been rehabilitating the infrastructure, repairing and maintaining the damage to the Syrian network, as a result of the terrorist acts that took place during the past years and at its expense, with the aim of speeding up the completion of the electrical connection project, and out of its keenness to help the Lebanese brothers to overcome the ordeal. And the great difficulties that their country is experiencing in the matter of securing electric power during the recent period.

The Minister of Electricity, Eng. Ghassan Al-Zamil, stated that the Syrian government was insisting on making this file a success as soon as possible, and that there was direct supervision from the Presidency of the Government to follow up on the implementation of the works that were completed in record time and studied by the Ministry of Electricity and the Energy Transmission Corporation.

There is no doubt that the signing of the agreement between the three brotherly countries is a good gesture in Arab cooperation and joint Arab action, to which Syria has been a forerunner over the past decades and has contributed greatly to it based on its principles and national principles. The Lebanese government thanked both Syria and Jordan for the completion of this vital project. .

The tripartite electrical interconnection project will, according to those concerned, benefit Syria, even at minimal levels, as it will secure stability for the Syrian electrical system in terms of completing the frequency protection and distributing loads to the Jordanian, Syrian and Lebanese networks, in addition to obtaining an electrical return estimated at /8/percent of electrical energy, which is equivalent to /18/ megawatt-hours.

Although the implementation of the agreement on the ground needs about two months after completing the funding for it, the Syrians hope that this joint cooperation will contribute to alleviating the electricity crisis caused by the lack of fuel and the high costs of production and electricity generation as a result of the sanctions and the unjust Western siege imposed on Syria for years. , which affected various areas of their daily lives, and they hope to complete the project of transporting Egyptian gas to Lebanon through Syrian territory soon, as it will also benefit their reality.
