Federal Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock (Greens) will soon be able to set up another state secretary position in her ministry.
The highly paid post is intended to increase the number of state secretaries in the Federal Foreign Office from two to three.
According to SPIEGEL information, it is geared towards responsibility for international climate policy and, together with other bodies, was included in the budget committee's recommendation for the supplementary budget.
On Thursday, the Bundestag released the necessary funds for a new climate state secretary with the budget.
International climate policy was previously the home of the Federal Environment Ministry and was the responsibility of the State Secretary there.
With the formation of the government in December, the green prestige issue moved to Baerbock's department.
Among the candidates under discussion is the former Secretary of State for Energy from the Federal Ministry of Economics, the Green Rainer Baake.
The new government of the traffic light coalition has already approved significantly more leadership positions than the previous government.
She is criticized by the opposition for this.
