End of suspense.
The Minister of National Education announced this Friday to the teachers' unions the postponement to May 11, 12 and 13 of the new baccalaureate specialty tests, initially scheduled for March 14 to 16.
Since the start of the school year in January, several unions and teachers' associations have been calling for the postponement of these written tests, which concern the two "specialties" chosen by high school students in Terminale as part of the baccalaureate reform, underlining the strong impact of the health crisis. on schools, and its procession of teachers and students absent due to Covid.
"Given the numerous and successive absences due to illness, the students find themselves in very different situations in terms of preparation", reads the press release from the ministry, and "the unchanged tests in March would therefore have led to ruptures of equality between candidates according to territories or personal situations".

Two weeks ago, Sophie Vénétitay, general secretary of the SNES-FSU, the first secondary school union, already explained to Parisian that the preparation for the specialty tests was very disrupted by the many cases of covid among the students: “We are not teaching. more to whole classes but to pieces of class.
One day we have half of the students, the next day a third, organizing a simple check under these conditions practically requires proposing 3 different subjects to take into account the absences of each other”.
On the high school student side, the president of the Voix lycéenne also underlined "a breach of equality between those who are isolated because of the Covid, and the others".
