The Colombian cyclist Egan Bernal thanked this Friday the clinic that treated him, specialists, loved ones and followers, after the accident he suffered while training on the roads of Colombia.
"After having a 95% chance of becoming a paraplegic and almost losing my life doing what I love to do most," he wrote on his Twitter account.
He added that he is still in intensive care waiting for more surgeries but "trusting in God everything will be fine."

According to the most recent medical report from the University Clinic of La Sabana, where Bernal was treated, the cyclist continues to recover with "a favorable trend" and has had a "favorable trend" recovery.
"We inform that at this time the patient is in a period of regeneration or tertiary of the world," says the statement.
Two secondary surgeries are scheduled for this Friday that "are not life-threatening," the clinic said.
They are surgery on the right hand for a fracture and another to correct a "dentoalveolar" fracture in the mouth.

Egan Bernal -current champion of the Giro d'Italia and champion of the 2019 Tour de France- suffered an accident on Monday while training with his bicycle on the Bogotá-Tunja road, according to the Ineos team, to which the cyclist belongs.
In a statement, the University Clinic of La Sabana reported that Bernal had a fractured femur and patella.
He also suffers from "cervical and thoracic trauma".
He also had a "risk of infection and pulmonary contusion" from the accident.
The Colombian cyclist underwent a thoracotomy with drainage due to chest trauma, according to the medical report.
This procedure involves inserting a tube through the chest to remove air and blood.
