If you want to go on holiday in Austria, you have to observe a few rules when entering the country.
Which applies to both vaccinated and unvaccinated travelers.
Hamm - Austria is a popular travel destination for many Germans.
Especially with a view to skiing holidays in Austria*, many tourists are drawn to Germany's neighboring country.
But there are also some strict rules because of the corona virus* and the Omicron variant that is currently also dominant there – also for entry, as wa.de* explains.

Entry to Austria: What vaccinated and unvaccinated holidaymakers have to consider
After all, there have recently been some relaxations in Austria. Chancellor Karl Nehammer recently announced the end of the lockdown for unvaccinated people from Monday, January 31st. The lockdown for the unvaccinated is “one of the strictest measures that can be taken,” explained Karl Nehammer. The situation in Austria's hospitals is now making it possible to end the exit and contact restrictions that have been in force since November 15th. However, "respect is still required", Austria's Chancellor warned on Twitter. He appealed to "all 1.5 million unvaccinated to get vaccinated". Restrictions continue to apply to those who have not been vaccinated, as visiting restaurants, hotels, sports and cultural facilities in Austria is reserved for those who have been vaccinated and those who have recovered.
These rules therefore also apply to those who want to go on holiday in Austria.
Nothing has changed for entry from Germany, for example.
Travelers must note the following:
Vacation in Austria: Corona rules for entry
The 2G plus rule applies when entering Austria.
Vaccinated and recovered must present a negative PCR test (maximum 72 hours old).
This test obligation does not apply to people who can prove that they have had a booster vaccination.
Children under the age of 12 are exempt from this rule.
Unvaccinated people are allowed to enter the country, but must register beforehand and be quarantined for ten days.
Free testing is only possible from the fifth day.
The Austrian government recognizes every additional vaccination dose as a "booster" for the egg trip that goes beyond the "first series of vaccinations" (recovery + 1 vaccination, 2/2 vaccinations or 1/1 with vaccination with Johnson & Johnson).
"A recovery (valid proof of recovery 180 days) that took place in addition to the first series of vaccinations can also be counted as a 'booster'," says the Austrian Ministry of Health.
Incidentally, with regard to PCR tests, the CT value is increasingly important*.
Because: The PCR test not only determines whether you are infected with corona or not, but also how contagious you are.
