The first step towards building a multi-purpose hall at Lodererplatz in Erding: the demolition of the school gymnasium has begun.
Generations of elementary and middle school students had physical education lessons in the two gyms on Lodererplatz, clubs played table tennis, badminton or volleyball - in training and league games.
And before there was the Stadthalle on Alois-Schießl-Platz, cultural events also took place here.
According to the city, the demolition work should be completed by mid-April.
Then the construction of the new triple sports hall with a mobile stage and a grandstand for up to 780 spectators begins.
The capacity can be expanded to 1860 seats with seating.
In addition to being used for school sports, the building will also have a canteen for the adjacent middle school.
Cultural events are also planned.
The hall should be ready by the end of 2024.
Because of the demolition work, Friedhofsweg, a popular shortcut for pedestrians and cyclists from the city center to St. Paul, is closed until further notice.
