Hungarian Foreign Minister Peter Szijjarto revealed that his country had received a request from the United States to deploy additional NATO forces on its soil.
And the media quoted Szijjarto as saying during a press conference today that "the Hungarian Ministry of Defense is conducting negotiations on this request."
Earlier, the British Sky News network revealed that NATO members are studying the formation of "new combat units" with a number of 1,000 people in Romania, Bulgaria, Hungary and Slovakia, similar to those in the Baltic states and Poland.
Last Monday, NATO announced its intention to put reserve forces on alert and send ships and fighters to Eastern Europe under the pretext of strengthening its defenses there, in an escalation of the situation with Russia, which demands security guarantees and prevents the expansion of the alliance to the east.
