he students of the Josef-Effner-Gymnasium in Dachau will have the opportunity to expand their language training from the coming school year 2022/23.
The Bavarian Ministry of Education approved Spanish as a third foreign language, which begins in the eighth grade.
This means that there are the following foreign language sequences at the Effner in the Sprachliches Gymnasium:
English (Year 5) - Latin (Year 6) - French or Spanish (Year 8) or English (Year 5) - French (Year 6) - Spanish (Year 8).
In the science and technology grammar school, the eighth graders choose reinforced lessons in chemistry and physics.
Headmaster Peter Mareis is happy for the school community: "With this decision, we can finally expand our range of languages on the Effner.
We always start with English and then teach either French or Latin, or French and Latin at the Sprachliches Gymnasium.
Language enthusiasts can now learn another modern foreign language with Spanish.
Of course we will also start looking for a partner school in Spain.”
District Administrator Stefan Löwl is also happy about the news: "Languages are the key to the world, Spanish is a language that covers almost the entire world.
It is spoken in over 25 countries.
