If we look at it without militant passion, the Ukrainian crisis presents itself today as an incredible revealer of contrasting visions of the international order and the way of projecting ourselves into it. Above all, it reveals the conflict between two contradictory, even hostile political imaginaries, between two ways of seeing the world stage. Between the warlike rantings of those nostalgic for the Cold War who dream of resuming a great democratic crusade against Russians disguised as villains of yesteryear, and the fascination of too many for Putin's virilism, Europe is struggling to find its voice, and even more, its politics.
The former submit to a form of Pavlovian reflex which no longer corresponds to the international realities of the present times.
American claims to be the leaders of the free world are no longer as self-evident as they once were.
The latter reveal without even realizing it a form of self-loathing that grows...
