The Governor of Puerto Rico, Pedro Pierluisi, decreed this Friday that "all employees of the central government, including public corporations and contractors who perform face-to-face work or frequent government offices, have the booster dose administered of the vaccine against covid-19, if they are suitable for it ”.

The decree, which takes effect immediately, clarifies that the process must be completed before February 28 to be considered fully vaccinated.

The governor extended until February 21 the time for students aged 5 to 11 to present their proof of vaccination in their respective classrooms and for those aged 12 or older to present their proof of booster dose.

Pierluisi also signed two other decrees that relax the restrictions related to the pandemic, but which will come into force on February 2.

The governor of the island also ordered that until February 16 the massive activities in coliseums, activity halls, convention centers and amphitheaters, among others, have a 50% capacity indoors and 75% outdoors.

The latest decree establishes changes for passengers over two years of age who arrive in Puerto Rico on domestic flights.

Those fully vaccinated will have to present the Vacu-ID or inoculation certificate, but they will no longer need to take a covid-19 test before the flight or when they arrive on the island.

Those who are not vaccinated will have to arrive with a negative covid-19 test up to two days before their arrival.

All travelers will have to continue filling out the Traveler's Declaration upon arrival in Puerto Rico.

For international flights, passengers over two years of age will be required to present proof of the complete vaccination cycle and a negative covid-19 test one day before boarding the flight to the United States.

In a statement, Pierluisi said that his government has seen "a positive trend in terms of the reduction in the positivity rate and hospitalizations" in recent days, and that is why it is "relaxing some restrictions," although he stressed that "individual responsibility continues to be key to counteracting this pandemic.”
