Since 2017 and the arrival of the iPhone X, Apple had the choice of removing its fingerprint sensor, unlike Android smartphones.
At the start of the pandemic, Apple adapted its system by reducing the time the code appeared when the camera detected a masked face.
Now, no need to type in your code, Apple has updated its facial recognition feature, Face ID, in the latest version of its iOS software (15.4).

An update accessible from the iPhone 12
To configure this new feature, all you have to do is scan your face in 3D once via your iPhone's camera, without having to wear your mask.
Users will be able to unlock their phone, pay with their mobile and automatically fill in the internet connection fields with their passwords.
For now, this update is aimed at developers and should be rolled out to the general public in the coming weeks.
According to the specialized site 9To5Mac, this new version of Face ID will only work from iPhone 12, in all versions, iPhone 12 mini, iPhone 12, iPhone 12 Pro, iPhone 12 Pro Max and iPhone 13 mini, iPhone 13, iPhone 13 Pro and iPhone 13 Pro Max.
For those with an iPhone X, iPhone XS or iPhone 11, another option is available, provided you have an Apple Watch.
Even if someone is wearing a mask, they can turn on “
Unlock with Apple Watch
” in iPhone Settings under “
Face ID and Attention
,” like on Macs.
