Russian President Vladimir Putin discussed with the permanent members of the Russian Security Council the draft updated concept of Russian foreign policy that takes into account recent changes in the world.
The Russian TASS news agency quoted Putin as saying during today's council meeting: "The Russian Foreign Ministry has prepared a draft of an updated version of the concept of the Russian Federation's foreign policy, and this document belongs to the category of strategic planning documents."
Putin explained that this document takes into account the recent changes taking place in the world, including the important changes that have occurred in international politics during the past five years.
Putin noted that this document, along with the approved National Security Strategy of Russia, will become a roadmap for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and other ministries and departments.
