TSV Eintracht is shrinking rapidly

Karlsfeld – This is also an effect of the corona pandemic: clubs are losing members.

TSV Eintracht Karlsfeld also felt this.

As of January 1, 2022, 3383 members were registered.

For comparison: From around 1997 until just a few years ago, the number of members was fairly stable at around 4,200.

"Closely linked to the gradual establishment of the now 14 departments, the number of members of the club also increased," says a current report on the club's homepage.

The statistics also clearly show the impact of the construction of sports facilities.

The gymnasium on Krenmoosstraße was opened in 1962 - in the years that followed, the number of Eintracht members rose rapidly.

Other projects included the sports facility on Jahnstraße in 1969, the indoor swimming pool in 1971, the large sports hall in 1974 and eight tennis courts in 1975 and 1976. From 1970 to 1975, TSV developed from a small club into a large club within five years.

In contrast, the Franz-Schiebl-Sporthalle on Jahnstraße, which opened in 1990, only had a limited effect on membership.

"The hall areas and other rooms offered not only the opportunity to optimize the overall sports offer, but above all the opportunity to close capacity bottlenecks," says the article.

The last major increase in membership was due to the construction of four more tennis courts in 1995.

Since the beginning of the corona pandemic, with its severe restrictions in all areas of life, TSV Eintracht has also felt the consequences: A number of members have left because the range of sports has sometimes had to be reduced to zero. At the same time, there were only a few new entrants. This was particularly noticeable in 2020, and the decline in membership was weaker in 2021. By the end of 2023, those responsible for the club hope to be able to record noticeable growth again.

But there is also good news as far as the Karlsfelder Großverein is concerned.

Because in the next few years he expects a relaxation in the area of ​​hall capacities.

In late summer 2021, the new triple sports hall of the elementary school on Krenmoosstraße was inaugurated.

The TSV athletes are allowed to use these in addition to the gymnasium of the middle school.

However, this relaxation will only have a long-term effect after the urgently needed renovation of the middle school's triple sports hall has been completed - according to Mayor Stefan Kolbe, a measure of the highest priority.

"Only then will it be possible for our sports groups to use both halls to expand their offer and thus meet the expected requirements of the increased number of residents in Karlsfeld more easily," says the club's website.

The joint use of the sports hall of the technical college on Zugspitzstraße brings additional capacities.

In addition, the grammar school on Bayernwerkstraße should be ready for the 2025/26 school year – with a state-of-the-art quadruple hall.

Of the currently 3383 members of TSV Eintracht Karlsfeld, 1449 were under 18 years of age.

This is the starting level in January.

Fluctuations over the course of the year are common.
