[Vaccine Pass] The Omicron epidemic has led to community outbreaks. Chief Executive Carrie Lam announced that the vaccine pass will be implemented from February 24, to use safe travel and display needle cards when entering and leaving designated venues, and the scope of application will be expanded. Nine adults are targeted for the first dose of the vaccine.
As of January 27, 5.308 million Hong Kong people aged 12 or above have received the first dose of the vaccine. It is estimated that 15,000 people will receive the first dose every day, and there are still 753,000 people who need the first dose to reach the standard.
According to the current progress, it means that the target will be reached in late March.
1. The latest vaccination rate and vaccination rate by age
As of January 27, 5.308 million people aged 12 or above in Hong Kong had received the first dose of the vaccine, with a vaccination rate of about 78.8%.
Divided by age, the two-dose vaccination rate was higher for people aged 40-49, while the vaccination rate for people over 60 was lower.
2. How far is it from the 90% vaccination rate of the first dose?
Chief Executive Carrie Lam announced on January 27 that Hong Kong will change the name of the vaccine bubble to the Vaccine Pass on February 24, and expand the scope of application. At the same time, the goal is to reach 90 people who have received at least one dose of the vaccine.
As of January 27, the population of Hong Kong aged 12 or above was about 6.735 million, of which 78.8% (5.308 million) had received the first dose of the vaccine, and there were still 1.427 million people who had not been vaccinated.
To reach the 90% target, 753,000 more injections will be required; according to the current daily progress of about 15,000 vaccinations, it will take 50 more days, that is, March 18 is expected to reach the target.
Taking into account factors such as the Lunar New Year holiday, it is expected that the event will be completed in late March.
3. Past “Valley Needle” measures
Looking back at the past "Vaccine Needle" measures, since mid-June last year, many commercial organizations launched a number of vaccine lottery draws, and in August last year, the "vaccine bubble" was tightened, requiring employees of Category B restaurants to be vaccinated or regularly tested, and then all required to be vaccinated. Volume growth accelerated.
By the end of October, many people who wanted to or needed to be vaccinated had already been vaccinated, and the daily dose began to drop. Until the end of last year, when the government announced that food restaurants would be required to be vaccinated, the dose immediately rebounded.
5. The third dose of inoculum
In response to the decline in antibody levels after vaccination and the impact of the new variant virus, the Hong Kong government opened the third dose of the vaccine in November last year. Currently, those who have received two doses of Sinovac vaccine and high-risk individuals who have received two doses of Fubitai can be vaccinated. On January 27, 886,000 people had been vaccinated, accounting for about 13.2% of the total injectable population.
