They denied rioting and other crimes on trial, and a district court judge today (28th) convicted 11 of them for rioting.
Several defendants and bystanders cried bitterly after learning the results.
Involved in the conflict between Wong Tai Sin and Long Xiangdao
12 defendants: Tan Junlang (21 years old, age at the time of the crime, the same below), Deng Youzhao (16 years old), Fang Ming (18 years old), Yang Yongyi (19 years old), Zhuo Qiaozhu (18 years old), Guo Xitong (17 years old) , Deng Qianyun (22 years old), Dai Peiling (19 years old), Wang Mingyou (21 years old), Wu Zuyi (22 years old), Liu Zhifeng (24 years old) and Huang Birong (23 years old).
They are both charged with one count of rioting, alleging that they participated in a riot with others in the vicinity of Lung Cheung Road, Wong Tai Sin on October 1, 2019; Fang Ming and Wang Mingyou are also charged with one count of possessing offensive weapons in a public place , respectively, the ford tube has a hammer, and a device that emits a laser beam.
The judge today ruled that the first 11 defendants were convicted of rioting, while the 12th defendant Huang Birong was not convicted.
In addition, Fang Ming and Wang Mingyou were also found not guilty of possessing offensive weapons in a public place.
