Since she joined this organization, she receives a slew of gift cards to spend in various brands, and especially for shopping.

She pulls a wad of them out of the dresser drawer in the living room.

To obtain them, she must publicize this service and accomplishes her task with stubbornness.

But for her and Xavier, her husband, the investment in time has paid off.

Each month, these cards are 50 euros in savings on shopping.

Yasmina, 43, is a specialized nurse.

Xavier, 48, is a professional firefighter.

They live with their three children in Rang-du-Fliers (Pas-de-Calais), in a house that bears the number 500 and something in a residential area that extends to the borders of a marsh.

It is reached by passing rows of individual houses with steeply sloping roofs.

Some have a small name, inscribed in iron letters next to the front door.

Many are guarded by a neatly painted white gate or magnesia garden sculptures.
