Rivera assures that the Military Police in an operation arrested two people suspected of having participated in the multiple crime.

The military spokesman said that these two people were wearing clothing similar to that used by the National Police and the Honduran Army and ruled out that they belong to the State security forces after their names were searched in the personnel database of these institutions and they did not appear

He pointed out that an investigation team and prosecutors from the Public Ministry are already working in the area to determine the reasons for this bloody act.

He noted that several vehicles and firearms were seized at the crime scene.

In addition, the military official added that the person who had been deprived of liberty in one of the cars was rescued alive.

Rivera said that this is the second massacre that has taken place in this area, since on January 7 three people dedicated to the transportation sector were allegedly murdered for opposing the payment of extortion.

This is the first massacre that has taken place in the government of Xiomara Castro Sarmiento, who assumed the presidency of Honduras on January 27 and who in his speech pointed out that one of his challenges would be to combat insecurity in the Central American country.
