1. How to be sure that the result will be natural?

“A beautiful result is always a result that cannot be seen”, comments Dr. Marie-Thérèse Bousquet, aesthetic doctor.

For this, the practitioner must know how to correctly assess your needs in order to achieve a harmonious correction.

If you did not come to him on a recommendation, try to gauge the patients who come out of his practice, go and consult his site.

The first contact you establish with him is essential to assess his perception of aesthetics.

He must already ask you why you are coming and what your objectives are, and not decide for you what you need.

He will then set up a treatment plan, perhaps including several gestures if necessary, but every word he uses counts.

If he talks to you about subtle retouching, a healthy glow,

In video, how to have beautiful skin, have beautiful hair, have beautiful nails?

2. If I start, will I know when to stop?

A question that comes up like a refrain.

When you drink a small glass of wine, do you fear becoming an alcoholic?

Unless you have a real neurosis, like dysmorphophobia, or a very degraded self-image, you should be able to resist "too much" without any problem.

3. How can we benefit from this care without spending too much?

Get closer to the CHU (university hospital centres).

Some have a dermatology or surgery department that trains doctors in aesthetics as part of their degree.

Patients to serve as role models are then sought.

The treatments delivered are completely free.

And you can be reassured: "The injected products are traced and in the event of a complication, the doctor's responsibility is engaged, as for any patient", assures Dr Philippe Kestemont, plastic surgeon.

4. I have very sensitive skin, aren't the treatments risky?

“Peels are clearly not indicated in the case of reactive or allergic skin.

On the other hand, all other treatments (injections, radiofrequency, HIFU, laser, etc.) are possible, taking precautions”, answers Dr Isabelle Rousseaux, dermatologist.

Softly rejuvenate

If many dermatologists and aesthetic doctors recommend Avène care after an operation, it is not by chance.

Its thermal water has been widely proven to calm irritations and promote healing.

Mature skin that fears "overactive active ingredients" can count on the DermAbsolu range.

Its flagship product, an oil serum that nourishes, redensifies, revitalizes and boosts radiance, in particular with bakuchiol, this "vegetable retinol", more tender with the most sensitive people than the original.

5. Are hyaluronic acid injections "clean"?

This concept does not apply to injectables which are class III medical devices, the category just before the drug.

Laboratories are therefore required to demonstrate the harmlessness of ingredients and finished products with much higher control criteria than those of cosmetics.

The hyaluronic acid used is purer than that used in creams, and strictly identical to that of the human body.

Added to this is a "buffer" based on mineral salts, an anesthetic and, in some products, a cross-linking agent, BBDE, whose role is to bring the molecules of hyaluronic acid closer together to increase the shelf life of products under the skin.

Otherwise, they degrade very quickly.

“This cross-linker loses its toxic character as soon as it reacts with hyaluronic acid”,

assures Denis Couchourel, scientific director of Vivacy laboratories.

Hyaluronic acid is better than "clean".

It is “safe”.

6. Anti-Covid vaccine and injections, are they compatible?

systemic treatment with corticosteroids for a week,” reports Sébastien Garson, plastic surgeon.

The same precautions must be taken for any filler and tensor threads.

On the other hand, no problem with Botox, which is a drug.

Cosmetic injection

After enjoying considerable success in Asia, the Helena Rubinstein brand is returning to France in some very selected outlets, including La Samaritaine.

And the brand fully assumes its anti-aging and “skin tech” positioning.

Moreover, she collaborates with Laclinic-Montreux, one of the most renowned aesthetic clinics in the world, with which she co-signs her formulas.

Directly inspired by aesthetic medicine, the Re-Plasty range accompanies and prolongs the effects of procedures, by accelerating skin regeneration.

The latest, the Profiller Serum contains five hyaluronic acids to fill in all types of wrinkles.

The ultra-penetrating formula is applied using a patented "syringe" that delivers the right amount of product.

It also contains one of the highest doses of Pro-Xylane, the star active ingredient in L'Oréal research.

7. Are all adverse effects of injections reversible?

“It all depends on what reactions we are talking about, but the products used in aesthetics with a limited lifespan in the skin are mostly reversible,” reassures Dr. Marc Divaris, plastic surgeon.

The most common side effects (bruising, redness, swelling) fade in a few days.

The rarer nodules (small indurations) (less than 0.01% of cases, according to the world leader in dermatology Galderma), are the result of a reaction to a foreign body, after an injection of hyaluronic acid in particular.

“They usually disappear within a few weeks, otherwise we treat with cortisone by general route.

We can also dissolve hyaluronic acid with hyaluronidase”, continues the specialist.

After Botox, the most annoying side effect (between 1 and 10% of cases), caused by a technical error, is the drooping of the upper eyelid or eyebrow, which only disappears when the effects of the product wear off .

"We can correct the ptosis of the eyelid for a few hours, in order to improve social life, with apraclonidine eye drops", indicates the doctor.

Hence the importance of always choosing the right hand to inject!

8. Do long-term hyaluronic acid injections prevent a facelift?

“No, because they don't prevent sagging skin.

On the other hand, they can delay it by five or ten years, by improving the quality of the skin and by filling in the hollow areas of the face, ”explains Dr Robin Mookherjee, plastic surgeon.

The new face of hyaluronic acid

“We can never say enough how much our aesthetic doctors are the best in the world, with very high-level know-how and technique,” recalls Michel Chéron, CEO of Vivacy.

This 100% French laboratory is one of the pioneers of hyaluronic acid, not only in the field of aesthetics but also in ophthalmology, rheumatology and increasingly in gynecology.

“Today, hyaluronic acid is no longer used solely to fill in wrinkles, but it helps to create volume and resculpt a face, specifies Michel Chéron.

We also see a peak in requests from 25-40 year olds to reshape their lips.

This represents 30% of procedures, compared to 15% three or four years ago.

And we are a long way from the duck mouths of the beginnings!”.

But for him, the market of the future is the treatment of intimate areas.

For women as well as for men.

"We don't realize how complex some people are," he insists.

This also includes the management of vaginal dryness due to menopause.

One injection per year is enough to restore comfort and confidence to women.

We are also working more and more with oncology services to mitigate the side effects following treatments.”

Futile, beauty?

9. What about tissue-inducing type injectables?

These products are an alternative to hyaluronic acid.

They treat wrinkles and volumes in the same way, but stimulate the synthesis of collagen as a bonus, extending their life under the skin for up to two years.

And they are just as reliable, having been authorized following well-conducted clinical studies.

“The concern is that we have no antidote to dissolve Radiesse, Ellansé or Sculptra in the event of a problem, whereas for hyaluronic acid, we have hyaluronidase.

Their injection therefore requires solid training, because it is imperative to avoid certain dangerous areas to guard against any problem,” says Dr. Philippe Kestemont.

10. Apart from peeling, what new techniques to regain beautiful skin?

“We can start by cleansing the skin with a Hydrafacial type microdermabrasion device, which leaves a very soft texture.

Then, continue with a photorejuvenation treatment, with a latest-generation flash lamp or a Picofocus laser, which really produces a very good skin quality.

Afterwards, there is fractional radiofrequency with micro-needles, which is more aggressive, more expensive, but goes further in the results since it also treats fine lines”, indicates Dr. Hervé Brunet, dermatologist.

11. And what good techniques to eliminate jowls?

“If they are greasy, I recommend two HIFU sessions spaced three months apart, supplemented, if necessary, with volumizing hyaluronic acid injections to lift the cheeks and redefine the line of the jaw and the chin.

If the jowls are cutaneous, rather live injections.

The tensor threads can also be a solution, but which proves to be less durable”, indicates Isabelle Rousseaux, dermatologist.

Obviously, all this is only valid in the case of beginner releases.

Otherwise, it's the facelift!

12. Can Plex-r (or similar) save me eyelid surgery?

“It all depends on the problem.

The indications for surgical blepharoplasty are pockets of fat around the eyes or a large excess of skin on the eyelids.

Now, if you are looking to beautify and refresh your look in case of withered eyelids, Plasma technology is perfect!

The problem can be solved in one session, but strong, to properly re-mesh, retract and strengthen the skin, "says Dr. Nelly Gauthier, aesthetic doctor.

The consequences: fifteen days of scabs and dewy skin sometimes for several months (make-up essential).

On the other hand, the result lasts for several years!

13. It was the assistant and not the doctor who performed my treatment, is that normal?

It all depends on the treatment. Not everyone has the same risks. However, whatever its nature, from the moment you consult a specialist, you must see the doctor at the first consultation, so that he examines you and puts in place a treatment plan. "The practitioner can then delegate to his assistant, under his responsibility, certain non-invasive acts", indicates Dr. Plot, plastic surgeon, member of SOFCEP (French Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons). “He must be present in the office and insured for the practice of these treatments. Unfortunately, there is no list of acts that may or may not be non-delegated, but the first prerequisite is that the care does not lead to bloodshed, ”says Maître Véronique Estève, lawyer in health law.

Injections, botox, tensor threads, lifting... what are the solutions for aging well?

However, rest assured: although the assistants do not (yet) have a diploma recognized by the State, these professionals regularly follow training courses within private organizations, congresses organized by learned societies or medical laboratories. .

All minimally invasive acts, such as injections or tensor threads, however, fall under strict medical practice.

Finally, it is mandatory that the doctor checks the result obtained at the end of all your treatment sessions.

14. I have not had any results following a treatment, is it possible to be reimbursed?

“Doctors have a contractual obligation of reinforced resources towards their patients.

They are not bound by a precise result, but undertake to make every effort to obtain it as well as to provide exhaustive information to their patient”, indicates Dr. Plot, cosmetic surgeon.

Since medicine is not an exact science, the response to treatment may vary depending on the patient (depending on the quality of the skin, in particular).

The practitioner is therefore not required to reimburse you if the result does not satisfy you.

If he is conscientious, he will be able to offer you additional treatment or a solution.

15. My 18-year-old daughter wants beauty treatments, should I discourage her?

If she thinks about it, it's because she feels a need.

It is up to the doctor to assess whether his request is realistic and to properly explain the treatments to him.

It must require fifteen days of reflection.

“Such a long delay is not mandatory, but at this age, we take every precaution,” says Dr. Plot.

On the other hand, warn her against the acts performed by non-professionals, in particular injections, which are very risky gestures that absolutely require the help of a doctor, under penalty of going in front of big problems, such as cutaneous neurosis.

Release or new injunction?

After the diktat of thinness, some point the finger at that of youth.

Francis Lemoine, president of Allergan Aesthetics France, the market leader, is convinced that aesthetic medicine has a remarkable impact on self-confidence and inner well-being.

“Demand is exploding with 10% growth over the past five years. There has been a certain confinement effect, but we are the only country where social acceptance is so low, while the French touch remains a beacon in the world. Patients' requests are above all emotional: “I look tired”, “I no longer recognize myself”, “My physical appearance does not correspond to who I am”. In aesthetic medicine, there is medicine and doctors. The answer must always be dosed, proportionate and natural… including for the requests of 18-34 year olds who want to treat their lips because of social networks. And it's not just the injections. The quality of the skin and the prevention of aging are increasingly being taken care of, with in particular the stimulators of collagen and elastin which are arriving on the market. The future belongs to less invasive treatments. »

Anne Gotman, sociologist and director of research at the CNRS, is also convinced that aesthetic medicine is an essential vector of self-confidence and contributes to well-being: “Personality has no age.

Aesthetic medicine just makes it possible to harmonize the exterior and the interior.

We have gone from the notion of youth capital to the desire to take care of oneself.

For Dr. Richard Diacakis

, plastic and aesthetic surgeon, it can even be a real therapy, a treatment for the body and the mind which helps to gain confidence.
