The Assistant Minister of Communications and Technology, Eng. Fadia Suleiman, affirmed that government support is an essential part of the state’s policy in its various forms, including food supplies and oil derivatives, stressing that the goal of organizing and reforming it is to direct the largest mass of it to the deserving segments.
Suleiman explained in an interview with Al-Souria Al-Youm channel that the Economic Committee in the Presidency of the Council of Ministers has carefully studied the issue of excluding categories of support, with the aim of reaching the most vulnerable segments of society, noting that all production inputs and sources of income will not be excluded from the support.
Suleiman indicated that the determination of the excluded segment of the subsidy was based on the criteria of wealth, ownership and income level, indicating that this segment proposed for exclusion will receive all the goods it currently obtains, but at the cost price that will be determined later by the Ministry of Internal Trade and Consumer Protection.
Suleiman indicated that the new mechanism for excluding subsidies will not include the means of production and the public transport system, and this means that it will not cause prices to rise, pointing out that the financial mass that will be available from the step will be directed to other support areas to be determined later.
Suleiman said: In the first stage, 596,628 family cards will be excluded from the support, which is equivalent to 15 percent of family cards.
Suleiman added that the number of cars owned by the excluded families is 432,173 cars, the number of cars owned by companies is 15,593 cars, and the number of cars belonging to individuals who have more than one vehicle and do not have family cards is 2462 cars, which means that the total number of cars is 450,228 cars, and that the percentage of excluding private cars is 47 percent.
Suleiman added that the number of individuals who left the country and benefited from government support 687,778, the number of individuals who left the country more than a year ago, the beneficiaries of the support 343,686, the number of deceased beneficiaries of cards 83,243, and the number of family cards whose members have completely died about 30 thousand family cards.
Suleiman pointed out that the owners of private cars that are excluded from the subsidy have been identified through the data of the Ministry of Transport, as those who own a car with an engine of more than 1500 cc model 2008 and later will be excluded from subsidizing oil derivatives, or who owns more than one car, explaining that real estate data and ownership were not Entering at this stage due to the need for further study and accuracy.
Suleiman indicated that the affluent were identified by income, including, for example, large and medium taxpayers, importers and exporters, founders of private banks and exchange companies, owners of first and excellent commercial records, owners of universities, private schools, gas stations, private ovens, owners of quarries, driving schools, marine transport agents and inspection centers. The technician and others who have economic activities that generate a stable income for them, expressing their ability to provide for their families without government support.
Suleiman stressed that the exclusion will not include everything that enters the production process and what is considered a means of income, such as public transport cars and taxis, even if the citizen owns more than one car, because in the end it enters the process of public service for citizens.
Suleiman pointed out that every citizen will be able to know whether he is covered by the support or not when these measures enter into force, through the application of electronic cards on the mobile phone.
As for any objections to the exclusion, Suleiman announced that a special website will be launched that will allow anyone to know the reason for his exclusion and submit an objection in a simple and easy way to be studied later by the concerned authority and to decide whether or not it is valid, noting that the method of objection will later be available through the mobile application or Through the service bot on Telegram or even through my phone number.
Suleiman explained that there is a subsequent study for the category of employees, retirees, and real estate owners, indicating that the review and audit process continues on a permanent basis, whether in terms of introducing new categories or reconsidering categories that were excluded based on the objections that come.
