Bad air in the dispute over asylum accommodation between Adelshofen and the district office: The authority wants to set up containers for up to 40 refugees - against the wish of the municipal council for a smaller solution.

Adelshofen - In November, the district office presented two alternatives to the municipal council: accommodation for 35 and one for 40 residents on Pfaffenhofener Straße, on a property owned by Mayor Robert Bals (WG ANL). The municipal council rejected both as too large and called for a reduction. Now, in the January meeting, both variants were almost unchanged - with the district office pointing out that the municipal agreement would be replaced if necessary. This means that the authority implements what it wants.

The topic again attracted a large number of listeners to the meeting.

They showed themselves angry.

"I am appalled that the building application has been submitted again, although the municipal council has already dealt with the subject in detail and in a level-headed manner," said a direct neighbor of the project.

Another complained about the late information from residents and said: "I have lost my trust in the municipal council."

A third citizen, on the other hand, defended the committee and scolded the district authority: "The municipal council did not make it easy for itself and submitted a reduced proposal." It was a mess that the district office did not accept it.

But the council can't do anything about it.

Deputy Mayor Margit Pesch (WG ANL), who led the discussion due to the personal involvement of Mayor Bals, made it clear that the municipality's hands were tied: the project was permissible, despite major deviations from the development plan, if the containers were there for a maximum of three years stand.

The authorities had made the only change here: They had reduced the service life from 60 to 36 months.

Complaints mostly dismissed

According to the district office, the neighbors cannot have or do anything against the project.

The Bavarian administrative court has so far always dismissed complaints from neighbors against asylum accommodation.

Third Mayor Stefan Heitler (CSU/BfANL) was not satisfied with that.

He still thinks the project is too big.

"It's a pity that the district office didn't advance an amicable solution with the community." Especially since another accommodation was even opened.

This is a private house.

According to Heitler, the owner had made it a condition that families be accommodated.

"But the district office could not guarantee that," says Heitler.

That's why he doesn't want to accept the accusation that Adelshofen is the only municipality in the district that hasn't taken in any asylum seekers: "We had permission for accommodation in the monastery garden and the private property." The fact that none of this was realized is not the fault of the municipality.

Petra Schäfer (WG ANL), who had spoken out in favor of the accommodation in November, was now against the actions of the district office: "I feel pressured by the threat of substitute performance." There are alternatives, added Christine Steber ( WG ANL): "We have council flats that have become vacant."

Ultimately, the municipal council went on a confrontational course: it unanimously rejected both variants.

Now it has to be seen whether the municipality and the authorities can agree on an alternative.

Or whether the authorities will follow through with their plans.
