Drama in Canada over vaccine opponents: Prime Minister rushed to hiding Israel today

2022-01-29T21:05:04.024Z

Thousands arrive at Parliament House in Ottawa after the government announced that unvaccinated truck drivers would not be allowed to cross the border with the U.S. • Protesters arrived in a convoy of trucks, and thousands more joined • Some appealed to Queen Elizabeth to lift restrictions as head of state

An uncharacteristic Canadian drama unfolded on Saturday in the capital, Ottawa, as thousands of protesters cheered against Prime Minister Justin Trudeau's vaccination policies prompting his security staff to flee his home to a hiding place for fear of his safety.

This unusual move stemmed from a large demonstration by truck drivers traveling in a convoy to "Parliament Hill" in the capital to protest the federal government's policy of requiring many jobs and more places to exclude people who are not fully vaccinated, especially in light of the decision to prevent truck drivers from crossing the border into the US Unvaccinated.

Although the organizers of the protest, called the "Freedom Convoy," favored maintaining public order, police did not take risks in light of the unusual protest (in Canadian terms), which was expected to bring thousands of people to the heart of Ottawa.

According to police estimates at least 10,000 people were expected to be in the area, alongside dozens of trucks parked in front of parliament in protest.

Other vaccine opponents have staged rallies in other cities across Canada.

According to sources who spoke to the CBC news network, Trudeau and his family were transferred from their official home to a safe place, although it is not clear how much they were under threat.

It is also unclear to what extent they could have reached the level of harming the prime minister since his official residence is not in the parliament compound, but the call of some protesters to demonstrate in front of the home of senior government officials apparently raised concerns that matters were out of control.

The protesters want Trudeau's resignation and have even appealed in part to Queen Elizabeth to repeal the laws, as head of state.

However, its current position appears to be stable, partly in light of the public's widespread support for restrictions on the unvaccinated.

Trudeau was recently elected to a second term mainly because of his success in reducing the corona plague, and appears to have been given a mandate to continue implementing the tough measures.
