Representatives of the security committees in Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan held an extraordinary meeting today, after skirmishes took place at one of the common border points during the past two days, which resulted in many casualties.
Sputnik quoted the head of the Kyrgyz National Security Committee Kamchebek Tashiev and his Tajik counterpart Semen Yatimov as saying at the conclusion of the meeting: “A complete ceasefire agreement was reached on the border between the two countries, and it was stressed that bilateral protocols should be followed and the terms of the document signed between the two parties be implemented to prevent a recurrence of Such incidents.”
The Chairman of the National Security Committee of Tajikistan considered that all available means must be taken to end the border conflict that has been going on for many years through legal procedures that must be adopted on the basis of mutual consent and expression of the common will of the two countries.
The two sides had announced the day before yesterday that an exchange of fire had taken place at one of the border points between the two countries, which led to the death of a civilian and the injury of a number of soldiers.
