At a time when some communities are struggling to set up an approvable budget at all, it is rare when a mayor can say, "The budget reflects some hope." Franz Obesser is fortunate to be the head of a community in which that is possible.

Indersdorf

‒ 2022 will also be a year in which Indersdorf will have to shoulder large projects and thus expenses.

But these projects don't scare Obesser - he's looking forward to them, as he says.

And anyone who knows him believes him, because even in the third year since the pandemic began, he has managed to address optimistic words to his fellow councillors.

It is noteworthy that "all the projects that we have undertaken have been accommodated in the budget".

The budget volume for this year is 38,256,700 euros, 1.6 percent less than in the previous year.

Obesser is pleased that "a significant sum" of 15.7 million euros for investments "such as infrastructure and housing construction" can again be made available in the asset budget.

He also rates it as an important and positive indicator that a transfer from the administrative budget to the property budget can take place again.

"This is no longer possible for all municipalities," he explains.

Because of the financial pressure, some municipalities already have to support their administrative budget from the property budget.

"We are in the fortunate position that we have a surplus of 1.7 million euros from the administrative budget - that's no small matter - and can therefore cover our financial budget."

In addition, Franz Obesser is pleased that all "our voluntary services, for example for the clubs, can be kept at the same level". And even if the budget includes a loan this year, Obesser is relaxed: "I don't see it so critically, because it is profitable - counter-financed - debts that will pay off in the foreseeable future."

Chamberlain Philipp Blumenschein, who presented the budget for 2022 to the municipal council, was also positive for 2022: Unless “the really big, bad things happen in the world”, 2022 will “go very well” for Indersdorf, he explained.

Nevertheless, Blumenschein appealed to the councils to think carefully about what really "is part of the tasks of the municipality and what is actually just nice to have" when it comes to large projects in the future.

"Even if you weren't used to it from the past few years because the money was there, you'll have to say no in the future."

Because, according to Blumenschein, after 2022 larger sums could probably only be financed through borrowing.

When going through the individual budget items, Blumenschein had another appeal: this time to the district councilors in the committee.

Because the largest expenditure in the administrative budget is the district levy, for 2022 it is 6,296,100 euros.

"It's crazy somewhere," emphasized Blumenschein.

With the 49 percent tax rate, you are now above the Bavarian average and you "have to ask yourself where it should end".

So Blumenschein asked the district councilors "to try to put the brakes on".

When looking at the projects that the district is planning, “one has to ask oneself whether all of this is so necessary”.

Blumenschein spoke above all to the planned new district office.

Because if the corona crisis, with all its disadvantages, has shown one thing: administrative work can also be done in the home office.

"You don't have to build a new district office for a three-digit million amount and increase the district levy again, maybe you should plan more intelligently these days!"

Compared to ten years ago, Indersdorf's household volume has more than doubled.

For Olaf Schellenberger (CSU), the budget reflects "the great dynamics of the last seven or eight years in Indersdorf".

From him, as from all other factions, there was great praise for treasurer Philipp Blumenschein for the solid budget that he created despite the crisis.
