The planned demonstration against the Corona measures with 11,000 people in Hamburg remains prohibited.

After the Administrative Court, the Higher Administrative Court now also decided.

Hamburg – The demonstration by opponents of the Corona measures on Saturday in Hamburg, which was banned by the police, remains prohibited.

The complaint against the decision of the administrative court was unsuccessful, said a spokesman for the Hamburg Higher Administrative Court (OVG) on Saturday morning.

"So the ban on demonstrations remains."

On Friday, the Hamburg Administrative Court rejected an urgent application with which the applicants could hold the meeting planned in the city center entitled “Against the mask requirement and other corona containment measures.

For self-determination, freedom of opinion and speech as well as democracy”.

On the other hand, the applicants had lodged a complaint with the OVG.

A demonstration with 11,000 participants was originally registered for Saturday.

However, after the cooperation talks between the applicant and the assembly authority were unsuccessful, the assembly authority banned the demonstration on the basis of the coronavirus containment regulation.

According to the police, the applicant - an association - had made it clear that he only wanted to hold the demonstration around the Binnenalster without masks.

According to the administrative court, the ban is a necessary protective measure that may continue to be applied, although the Bundestag did not extend the determination of the epidemic situation of national importance.

In this respect, the ban on the assembly is proportionate.

Two weeks ago, despite the ban, around 3,000 opponents of vaccination had gathered around the Kunsthalle, mostly without masks and distance.

When they refused to vacate the square, the police pushed the demonstrators away, sometimes using physical force - there were isolated cases of fisticuffs.

Since December, the Saturday demonstrations by opponents of vaccination under the motto "Enough is enough - hands off our children" have been very popular.

Most recently, on January 8, almost 14,000 people took to the streets - many without masks and distance.
