Following the removal of the "pillar of national mourning" on the 22nd of last month, the University of Hong Kong sent workers this morning (29th) to erect hoardings on the Taikoo Bridge of the University of Hong Kong to cover up the June 4 slogan on the pavement.
After the June 4th Incident in 1989, the University of Hong Kong students spread black cloth on the footpath of Taikoo Bridge and wrote a long slogan "The heroic soul of the cold-blooded martyrs swears to annihilate the jackal and the spark of democracy will never be extinguished", but the white paint spilled over the black cloth. Left handwriting on the ground.
Every year on the eve of June 4th, Hong Kong University students will go to Taikoo Bridge to repaint the slogan in memory of the victims of the June 4th incident.
It has also become a tradition of the University of Hong Kong University to spontaneously wash the pillar of national mourning and repaint the June 4 slogan of the Taikoo Bridge every year.
On December 22 last year, the University Council of the University of Hong Kong decided to remove the "pillar of national mourning" after it had been aging for a long time and consulted independent legal opinions and stored it in the Kadoorie Center of the University of Hong Kong in Yuen Long.
