Altenerding - The shopping sponsors are ready, now only the Altenerdinger seniors who need a carpool have to report.
They are ready and looking forward to being able to help: the shopping sponsors who responded to the call from the neighborhood help (NBH) Erding and the municipal senior citizens' representative Silke Hörold-Ries.
They want to bridge the supply gap left by the almost simultaneous closure of the two supermarkets in Altenerding – Edeka on Ardeostrasse and the Rewe branch on Zugspitzstrasse.
Now only seniors who need help with shopping have to get in touch.
Since Christmas there has not been a supermarket in Erding's largest district that is close to home and therefore within walking distance. The public outcry at the time was great. That's why NBH and Hörold-Ries have joined forces. Although there is a discounter in the commercial area in Altenerding, it is on the other side of Münchener Straße and can only be reached on foot via an underpass - a difficult and long way for older people.
“Seniors need the shopping experience.
They want to choose their goods themselves, compare prices - and come out again," Hörold-Ries explained the idea.
It is to be implemented unbureaucratically: sponsors who have a car and drive to go shopping anyway take a lady or gentleman with them who is not mobile themselves.
Neighborhood help brings these carpools together.
If the first contact went well, this sponsorship will become a sure-fire success.
The project is still a long way from that, because so far only one purchasing sponsor has been found, admits NBH chairwoman Petra Bauernfeind.
"We have the curious situation that we have many helpers, but little demand," she says.
Now you want to stir the advertising drum.
This is how Hörold-Ries advertised the project to active seniors.
In addition, posters in Altenerding should make the shopping sponsors known.
No one should be afraid to get in touch, assures Bauernfeind: "If someone calls, we'll have someone to go shopping with tomorrow." Anyone looking for a ride should contact the Erding neighborhood help on Tel. (0 81 22) 99 04 10 or by email to nbh.ed@erding-mail.de.
The Mühlgraben office is open on Mondays from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. and on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m.
