The efforts have paid off: Olching has been awarded the contract and will be one of the 216 so-called host towns for the Special Olympic World Games next year.
These will take place from June 17th to 25th in Berlin.

- Mayor Andreas Magg (SPD) spoke of really good news at the city council meeting.
And he emphasized: "It's not just about looking after athletes, but inclusion projects should also be set up." Magg didn't want to reveal where the guests came from.
Just this much: "A return visit would definitely be worthwhile."
The initiative for the application came from the Parents of Disabled Children (SFBC) group.
Chairwoman Manuela Brehmer in particular campaigned for this.
She had prepared the draft for the application.
Olching will offer guests a cultural program and provide accommodation, as will the other host cities across Germany.
According to the City Hall, it is the largest municipal inclusion project in the history of the Federal Republic.
This should create a new togetherness.
SFBC Chairwoman Brehmer, who is also involved in the regional association of Special Olympics, hopes that this will give disabled people a boost in participation in Olching itself, in clubs and in city life.
The Olchinger athletes should also be involved in the organization.
The "host towns" prepare the reception for the international delegations.
For four days, from June 12th to 15th, 2023, they will be hosting the athletes and their families before the start of the competitions in Berlin.
The delegations get to know the country and its people.
According to the city, they experience the regional characteristics and uniqueness in all federal states up close.
It is said that the municipalities – cities, districts and municipalities – will shape the image of Germany in the world.
