President Yitzhak Herzog and his wife Michal are expected to leave for the United Arab Emirates this morning for a historic presidential visit.
This will be the first time the president has publicly criticized the Emirates.
The visit will last two days, during which Herzog will meet with the de facto ruler of the United Arab Emirates, Regent Muhammad bin Zayed, with the ruler of Dubai, senior government officials and the Jewish community.
The President's House noted that this is a historic visit of great significance, especially in light of the Houthi attacks in the United Arab Emirates in recent weeks.
Herzog: "The visit takes place at a time when the people of Israel and the people of the Emirates are working hard to lay the foundations for a new common future. I believe that this new and courageous partnership will bring about positive change in the Middle East and inspire the entire region."
