The firefighters intervened Tuesday morning to recover a floating body in the Seine, in Argenteuil.
It was a little before 10 a.m. that this body was spotted near the bank, along the D 311. A team of firefighter divers jumped into the water to go and recover it around 11 a.m.
It is the corpse of a woman who would be around 50 years old.
The Smur doctor declared her dead.
Nothing on her would allow her to be identified at this time.
Around 1 p.m., motorists still noticed the presence of the national police on the site and could clearly see on the bank the white cover closed on the body of the victim.
An open investigation to determine the causes of death
An investigation has been opened by the Pontoise public prosecutor's office to determine the causes of his death.
She was entrusted to the urban security of the Argenteuil police station.
An autopsy is to be performed soon to try to determine the cause of death.
It could be an accident, suicide or homicide.
The body may have been immersed in the Seine further upstream.
A little over a year ago, on March 11, 2021, the body of a 41-year-old jogger from Taverny was found in the Seine in Andrésy (Yvelines), eighteen days after her disappearance, when she had gone jogging on the banks of the Oise, in Méry-sur-Oise.
The autopsy revealed death by drowning.
A year later, the mystery still remains on the reasons for its presence in the water.
More recently, on January 17, in L'Isle-Adam, a 60-year-old mariner fell in the Oise at L'Isle-Adam at the end of the afternoon.
It was his wife who alerted the emergency services.
She slept while her husband was at the helm of the boat.
It was when she woke up that she noticed that he had disappeared and that the barge was adrift.
