Damascus-SANA

Hope is scattered among the stories of the “Rose at Sunset” group, despite all the sadness that afflicts it, so that the rose will be the light that illuminates the moment the sun sets.

This collection, written by the storyteller Abdullah Al-Nafakh after his first novel (The Lanterns of Anxiety), includes stories he wrote between 2009 and 2018, which were dominated by the consequences of the terrorist war on Syria and its effects on man and the entire ocean, and its repercussions in social relations and human feelings, in addition to dealing with general humanitarian issues due to certain stories. prewar.

During the group’s signing ceremony and symposium at the Arab Cultural Center in Abu Rummaneh, Al-Nafakh saw that the Syrian storytellers kept pace with the war on their homeland by dealing with suffering in all its forms and details.

Among the audience, the storyteller Faten Derki found that the collection contained short paintings saturated with humanity and striking flashes enveloped in purity, love, cruelty and brutality in some of them, in addition to noble values, martyrdom and homeland, as well as criticizing some unusual human practices in a simple and easy language from which the sun rises.

The storyteller Khalifa Amouri spoke about the novel “Qandils of Anxiety” in which he probed the bloating man and his innermost parts, wondering why it did not take its right of criticism, considering the story collection as an extension of the writer’s bleeding, which he saw as a passion for creativity.

The poet Samar Taghbi also referred to the narrator's linguistic ability, pointing out that he adopted clarity at times and symbolism at times, and was the champion of women in the group that carried the concerns of the nation, society and man.

In the symposium, which was moderated by the media, Kawkab Al-Ahmad, Al-Nafakh read a number of the group's stories and listened to the interventions of the audience, critics and writers.
