No parking, and you can't go any further: the dead end sign hasn't stopped drivers from driving as close as possible to the waterfall.

Now the last part of Josefstaler Straße is to be designated as a residential street.

The Schliersee building committee decided to designate the last stretch of Josefsthaler Strasse as a residential street.

This should curb the parking chaos.

Neuhaus – If a picture of the Josefsthaler waterfalls is shared again on Instagram, the Neuhauers know what the hour has struck.

Then the day-trippers flock to take a selfie at the picturesque spot at the foot of the Brecherspitz.

And because everyone - whether walkers, hikers, mountain bikers or sledders - doesn't want to walk to their place of physical training, but rather drive their car, the people of Josefsthal regularly reap full-blown traffic chaos.

30 residents demand: end the park chaos

This should now come to an end if possible.

At the request of more than 30 residents, the building authority decided to designate the southernmost part of Josefstaler Straße from the junction with Aurachstraße as a residential street.

By the way: everything from the region is now also available in our regular Miesbach newsletter

.

Parking spaces are scarce in the Josefthal.

In fact, there aren't any, which doesn't prevent day-trippers from driving to the end of Josefstaler Strasse, where they look in vain for a parking space and then want to turn around, which is actually not possible either.

The result is parking and traffic chaos, which Wolfgang Mundel (CSU), among others, described in the meeting as "almost no longer bearable".

Situation for emergency services and snow plow drivers "a nightmare"

His parliamentary colleague Jürgen Höltschl, himself a snowplow driver, described the situation in winter as a "nightmare", and in summer there was hardly any space if the fire brigade or rescue service had to come through in an emergency.

Sure: The parking pressure on the northern part of Josefsthaler Straße would probably increase, but, according to Höltschl with regard to the emergency services, "we have fewer problems there".

Gerhard Waas (Greens) said: "We will always have too few parking spaces." It is the task of the municipality to ensure that "local life still works" when managing shortages.

Can the day trippers really be kept away?

The last section is now to be designated as a residential street.

It remains to be seen to what extent it will work to keep cars away from Josefsthal.
