Within a few hours, several close, senior Johnson associates said goodbye to Downing Street.

The "Partygate" affair gets new impetus.

London – British Prime Minister Boris Johnson is becoming increasingly lonely: In the “Partygate” affair, the staff carousel in Downing Street has picked up speed. Within a few hours on Thursday evening (February 3), four high-ranking employees took their hats off. The resignations do not end the endless story of a seat of government in chaos. The decisive factor, however, is how many MPs from the conservative Tory party have already expressed their distrust in Johnson - and how many will do so in the future.

Downing Street said on Thursday evening that both Chief of Staff Dan Rosenfield and Johnson's private secretary Martin Reynolds had resigned and that the resignation had been accepted.

Both continue to work until there are successors for them.

Reynolds has come under fire in the 'Partygate' affair for allegedly emailing around 100 staff around 'bring your own alcohol' before one of the Downing Street lockdown parties.

"Partygate Affair": Several Johnson employees leave

Communications chief Jack Doyle and senior adviser Munira Mirza had previously resigned, the

Spectator

and the

Daily Mail

revealed.

Mirza's departure in particular is considered a severe blow to Johnson.

And it seems to go further: The consultant Elena Narozanski - responsible for women's politics, cultural politics and extremism - has resigned, the well-connected conservative blog

Conservative Home

reported on Friday.

Downing Street departure: Johnson loses senior advisors - did they leave voluntarily?

According to the Politico

portal

, the surprising departure of Mirza, who worked for Johnson for 14 years and was previously considered one of his most loyal supporters, started the carousel.

So far it is unclear how voluntary the further resignations were.

In his reaction to the official investigation, Johnson announced a far-reaching reform of the British headquarters.

For example, responsibilities should be assigned more clearly and a new coordination post should be created.

Initially, nothing was known about personal consequences.

During the corona lockdowns, parties were reported to have repeatedly taken place in Downing Street where corona rules were broken * and at which Johnson is said to have been present in some cases himself.

An investigation report accuses those responsible of leadership failure and breaches of rules, and the police are also investigating.

Some MPs from his own party have already written out their support for Johnson.

According to the BBC, 17 letters have already been received by the responsible committee, with 54 there being a vote of no confidence.
