District - The murder of a 24-year-old commissioner candidate and a 29-year-old police commissioner by two poachers on a country road near the district town of Kusel in the Palatinate also affects the people in the Würmtal.
For example, a woman from Gautingen showed up at the local police station last Thursday and handed in a large bouquet of roses with a black mourning ribbon and a very personal condolence card.
"The woman was deeply moved and told the service group leader on duty that with this gesture she wanted to express her solidarity and sympathy for the police after this terrible act," the Gauting officials wrote in a press release.
In addition, the Gauting police received several e-mails this week in which citizens expressed their sadness and dismay at the death of the two young police officers.
