Many popular holiday countries such as Italy or Austria are currently relaxing their corona measures.

You can find out what applies to travel in the overview.

The Omicron variant has ensured that many countries have further tightened their corona measures.

But now there is a trend reversal - due to low hospital occupancy rates despite a high incidence, many states are relaxing their rules again.

This makes entry easier again for holidaymakers.

In addition, the EU Commission states that the EU's digital Covid certificate should be sufficient for travel.

This means that those who have not been vaccinated and those who are not fully vaccinated have more travel options again.

In the overview you can find out which entry rules currently apply in popular travel countries - and where they have been relaxed.

Holidays in Italy: These Corona rules apply immediately upon entry

Since February 1, travelers from EU countries only need one of these three pieces of evidence:

a negative corona test, a vaccination certificate or proof of recovery

. A PCR test must not be older than 48 hours when crossing the border, and a rapid antigen test must not be older than 24 hours. So far, there has also been a test requirement for those who have been vaccinated and those who have recovered, and those who have not been vaccinated had to go into quarantine for five days. In addition, it has now also been announced that the 2G rule in hotels and restaurants is to be relaxed for foreign tourists. They should be allowed access even if they are not vaccinated or have recovered.

At the same time, from February 1st, the validity of the vaccination certificate in Italy will be

reduced from nine to six months

.

The so-called “Super Green Pass” gives locals access to bars and restaurants and is equivalent to 2G proof.

The EU Corona vaccination certificate issued in Germany is also accepted - but then only for six months.

From February 1, the 2G proof must also be presented when entering numerous facilities, such as public offices, banks or the post office.

Corona measures in Austria: What travelers have to consider

Austria has

not yet relaxed its entry rules despite the EU recommendation

. According to the current status, vaccinated and those who have recovered must still present a PCR test (maximum 72 hours old) or be boosted in order to be allowed to enter the country without quarantine. Those who cannot provide the additional evidence must fill out an entry form. The same applies to people entering the country without 2G proof. They also have to go into a 10-day quarantine, which can only end on the fifth day with another negative test.

However, there are also plans to relax restrictions in Austria: from February 5, gastronomy may be open again until midnight instead of 10 p.m.

The 2G rule in retail will no longer apply from February 12th and a week later the 2G rule for restaurants and hotels will be converted to 3G.

Spain: What currently applies to entry – easing in individual regions

Anyone wishing to enter Spain must be either

vaccinated, recovered or tested

.

A PCR test is valid for a maximum of 72 hours, an antigen rapid test for 24 hours.

In addition, air and sea travelers must fill out a digital entry form via www.spth.gob.es.

However, the free SpTH app can also be used.

Due to the

high vaccination rate and the mild course of the disease in those infected

with Omicron , Spain is also slowly relaxing.

According to the

editorial network Germany (RND)

, the 3G rule for access to indoor public spaces has been lifted in the Catalonia region.

In addition, there should no longer be any capacity limits in restaurants or other venues.

Great Britain relaxes corona rules

Great Britain is also relaxing the entry rules:

from February 11th, the mandatory corona test, which should be carried out up to two days after entry, will no longer apply to vaccinated people

.

No tests have been required before entry since January 7th.

However, unvaccinated and not fully vaccinated people must be tested before entry and also carry out another test up to the second day after entry and from the eighth day after entry.

They are also subject to a 10-day quarantine obligation, from which those affected can test themselves free on the fifth day at the earliest.

All those entering the country must also carry out a digital registration from 48 hours before entry.

Violations are subject to fines.
