The conversion of the former stables in the Spielberg monastery courtyard into a meeting place including a café can start in May.

All permits are available from the authorities.

Oberschweinbach – In addition, the support association and the municipality of Oberschweinbach can look forward to government grants of two million euros.

The planning for the renovation is in full swing.

Architect Anette Primpke informed the local council about the stand. It was all about the kitchen and the café.

With the used furniture that you got as a gift, "it will work great," she said.

Dishwashing facilities, a kitchen block and refrigerators are already available.

What you have to buy additionally costs a maximum of the calculated 80,000 euros.

Grants of 2.05 million euros

The Klosterhof Spielberg development association, which has been supporting the project for years, was able to purchase tables and chairs at a reasonable price a year ago.

They just need to be revised.

A daytime café with 48 seats indoors plus a further 30 seats on the terrace is planned.

In addition, two multi-purpose rooms will be created next to the café.

The government of Upper Bavaria has approved the change of use, and the district office has given the building permit.

The financial aspects have also been clarified, according to Mayor Norbert Riepl (CSU/DG): There is a cash injection from the Free State for the large-scale project as part of the “Inside instead of Outside” funding program – a total of around 2.05 million euros.

The municipality has to shoulder 400,000 euros of the total costs.

The municipality has planned expenditure of 130,000 euros for this year and 270,000 euros for the following year.

Completion in autumn 2023

Now nothing stands in the way of the implementation of the construction project.

Architect Anette Primpke said it could start at the end of May.

According to the schedule, the shell construction will start in August and installations from October.

Everything should be ready in the fall of next year.

By the way: Everything from the region is now also available in our regular FFB newsletter.

During the work, the building yard, which is housed in the building wing, has to be completely cleared.

Among other things, the floor level is adjusted to a height there.

The upper floor of the stables also has to be cleared out, for which the municipality is planning a clearing day in April.

As an interim storage facility for the building yard, the head of the town hall brought a large tent into play, which is to be set up behind the parking lot of the depot and should be accessible to the building yard employees.

Regarding the conversion of the monastery, Riepl and club chairman Marc Koch emphasize: "We want to create a place for our citizens to come together and meet people." This increases the attractiveness of the entire monastery courtyard complex.

And for that we will continue to pull together.
