Several large seizures of cocaine have been made in recent months on the ground or off Martinique: on January 18, customs had discovered a ton on two sailboats in Marin Bay (south), and a record catch of 1, 4 tons had been made on the island in December 2021. The Caribbean region, close to the three main producing countries (Peru, Colombia and Bolivia), is a hub for cocaine trafficking.
