Wellness holidays beckon in the cold season: the Relax Guide 2022 reveals where you can find the best wellness hotels in Germany.

Simply relax in the whirlpool, in the sauna or with a massage: a wellness holiday is the perfect balance to the stress of everyday life and is particularly popular in autumn and winter.

But what should not be missing from a wellness hotel?

And which resorts are particularly recommended in Germany?

This was checked by the anonymous testers of the Relax Guide 2022.

According to the Relax Guide, there is also a good selection of relaxation hotels in the coastal areas on the North and Baltic Seas.

Hostels that demonstrate particularly high quality and offer a real feel

A wellness hotel can secure up to four lilies in total - but only very few accommodations have such a high quality.

Just four wellness hotels managed to secure the highest number of points in 2022.

• Das Kranzbach, Bavaria

  
  

  Das Kranzbach, a 5-star hotel with a wonderful view of the surrounding meadows and forests, is located in a quiet, sheltered mountain valley near Garmisch-Partenkirchen.

  The testers of the Relax Guide were also impressed by the "absolutely green area".

  On top of that, the wellness hotel attracts with a ladies' spa, four outdoor pools and a meditation house in the forest.

  Dog owners can also be happy - the four-legged friends are welcome.

• Schloss Elmau, Bavaria

  
  

  Schloss Elmau consists of a castle, also called "Hideaway", and a new building, the "Luxury Suites & Spa Retreat".

  Wellness holidaymakers really have a lot to offer here: there are five outdoor pools, four separate wellness areas, seven restaurants and yoga offers - and all of this in an "almost breathtakingly secluded location".

• Lanserhof Tegernsee, Bavaria

  
  

  The Lanserhof Tegernsee is actually not a wellness hotel, but a health hotel with an extensive medical area.

  Here guests can concentrate on detoxifying and purifying fasting cures and enjoy good diet cuisine.

  The spa area has its own bathhouse with saunas, and there is an outdoor pool that can also be used in winter.

  However, a minimum stay is one week, which costs around 6,000 euros in the cheapest room.

• Friedrichsruhe Wald & Schlosshotel, Baden-Württemberg

  
  

  In Baden-Württemberg, wellness fans can discover the "Friedrichsruhe Wald & Schlosshotel", which can be found in a "green area".

  The castle hotel is located in the middle of a park with gravel paths and rose beds and, according to testers, just about passes as a romantic hideaway.

  The highlights of the wellness area include a 13 meter long outdoor pool, a large lawn and three saunas.

  The fine cuisine and the rich breakfast buffet were also positively noticed.
