The Russian Foreign Ministry stressed the need to stop Western hysteria and dissemination of false information and allegations about Russia's intention to attack Ukraine.

"The NATO countries must stop the hysteria around Ukraine and stop supplying it with weapons, Kiev must show its independence and move to a direct dialogue with Donetsk and Luhansk," Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said in press statements today, reported by TASS.

Zakharova explained that the West is making statements and launching a media and political campaign about an alleged Russian attack against Ukraine, stressing that these statements are "nonsense and false", so this Western hysteria must be stopped.

Zakharova also called on the British Prime Minister to stop spreading false information about the threat of a Russian invasion of Ukraine and said, “British Prime Minister Boris Johnson posted a video on the government’s official social media page in which he tells viewers about Russian forces near the border with Ukraine and claims very real possibilities of an invasion. Russian is imminent,” stressing

The need to stop this (intimidation and false threats) and that her country will respond appropriately and with counter arguments to these false statements.

Regarding the sanctions that Britain threatens to impose against Russia, Zakharova stressed that Russia will take retaliatory measures if Britain imposes sanctions on the Russian media.
