In Dorfen, infection protection and committee work should be reconciled with the pandemic committee.
Now the city council should take over again.
(Comment)
The Dorfen Pandemic Committee is about to be replaced.
And that's good.
The Dorfen city council has to decide this on Wednesday, but everything points to it.
There are enough dissatisfied people on the board who consider this construct to be excessive under the current conditions.
The reinstatement of regular operations with meetings of the entire city council is an urgent vaccination for the village democracy.
It was absolutely understandable that Dorfen put this tool in the toolbox for committee work that was reasonably safe from infection.
The election period began in May 2020, when Bavaria woke up from the first corona lockdown.
At the beginning of 2021, an incidence of 150 was set in Dorfen as a criterion for setting up the committee.
At that time, the second corona wave rolled through the country and lockdown prevailed again.
Today we are in the fifth wave and face Omicron, which doesn't seem to be as menacing as Delta was a little before.
Incidences are now measured in thousands.
Many are vaccinated and boosted (still not enough).
Wearing FFP2 masks has become an annoying habit.
Air purifiers hiss at the conference venue.
The chairs are far apart and the 3G Plus rule prevails.
In this situation, the arguments for regular operation far outweigh the negative.
Firstly, it is important that all 24 elected representatives of the people can participate in the discussion.
Secondly, the backlog of tasks is far too great for committee work on the back burner.
Flood protection, inner city development, the Dorfen traffic congestion, the new district in the Meindl area, sports areas, A94 noise, railway expansion, B15 construction site diversion, state road 2086, safety on the way to school - the list is getting longer and longer.
Of course, the Dorfen town hall also has to wait in part until bureaucratic obstacles fall on other levels.
But then the city council must be effective.
